he Little Knights Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten program is a child-centered, developmentally appropriate, integrated program of learning for children 3-5 years old. The purpose of the program is to establish a strong foundation for learning in the early years, and to do so in a safe and caring, play-based environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of all children. Our learning activities provide children with opportunities for free exploration, cater for children’s development and interests, make use of sensory stimulation and real-life themes, and create a friendly and respectful atmosphere.
The program is designed for children aged 3-5 years, providing a child-centered, play-based environment that promotes holistic development.
The primary language of instruction is English, preparing students for PYP Years 1-5. Arabic is taught as the mother tongue, and French is introduced as a supplementary language.

PYP, for ages 3-12, offers an engaging transdisciplinary curriculum. It focuses on inquiry-based learning, holistic child development, and effective assessment practices.

The PYP is structured into three components: the written curriculum (what students will learn), the taught curriculum (how educators teach), and the assessed curriculum (principles and practices of effective assessment).

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), for ages 11-16, buildsupon the knowledge, skills, and attitudes developed in the PYP and preparesstudents to meet the academic challenges of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). The MYPallows students to focus on their personal strengths and embrace challenges asthey explore eight subject areas. It fosters the development of communicationskills, intercultural understanding and global engagement with an emphasis onhigher-order thinking skills, giving students the ability to take risks andexplore potential in academic and personal lifeLearning is expressed through a community and apersonal project which consolidate the learning experience and highlight theunique talents and interests of the student. Successful completion of the personal project along with external examinationswill lead to the award of an IB MYP Certificate
The MYP consists of eight subject groups: Language& Literature (English), Mathematics, Â Sciences (Physics, Biology and Chemistry),Individuals & Societies, Arts, Design, Physical & Health Education,Language Acquisition (Arabic and French)
The MYP Personal Project is a mandatorystudent-centered and age-appropriate extended project in which studentsconsolidate their learning throughout the programme. Each student develops aproject, producing a truly personal and creative piece of work that stands as asummative review of their ability to work independently. Examples of personalprojects include original works of art, literature or film; models, businessplans, campaigns, investigative studies, scientific experiments, performances,courses of study or learning engagements, and computer programs. Â Students share their journeys with parents,peers and teachers at a Personal Project Exhibition.
At FIS, students have the option to complete the MYP eAssessmentin order to obtain MYP course results or an MYP Certificate issued by the IBOrganization. Â The eAssessments consistof ePortfolios, on-screen examinations and a personal project eAssessment
The Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous pre-universitycourse of study designed for students in the 16 to 19 age range.  It encourages students to be knowledgeableand inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis ondeveloping intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of viewpoints.Thecurriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. The coreconsists of the following three areas: the 4,000-word extended essay (EE),Theory of Knowledge course (TOK) and participation in the Creativity, Actionand Service programme (CAS) .Admission to the DP is subject to diagnostictesting at MYP Year 5 (Grade 10) to ensure that students have the skills necessary for success in the DP Program. The PYP and MYP Programs are mandatory for all enrolled students.
The IB Diploma Programme aims to give students an excellentbreadth and depth of knowledge while allowing them to flourish physically,intellectually, emotionally and ethically. DP graduates are well-prepared forthe rigors and expectations of higher education, and have a significantadvantage in application to respected institutions worldwide. Applicants areoften able to waive the foundation year required by many colleges anduniversities and enter the first year of their program of study directly.
TheDP covers six subject areas: language and literature; language acquisition;individuals and societies; sciences; mathematics; and the arts. Â Courses are offered at standard level andhigh level with selection depending on the academic goals and abilities of thestudent.
Candidates are assessed both internally and externally. Assessmentsinclude oral exercises, projects, student portfolios, reports, classpresentations, practical laboratory work, mathematical investigations, andartistic performances. Some assessment tasks are conducted and overseen byteachers but are then marked externally by examiners, such as the TOK essay andthe extended essay. Â Validity,reliability and fairness are the watchwords of the Diploma Programme assessmentstrategy.
Students entering Grades 11-12 atFIS have the option for the IB Diploma course or the American Diploma (SAT)course. Â The American Diploma is arigorous high school curriculum designed to prepare students for the SATReasoning Test administered by the College Board and used as a standard ofuniversity admission worldwide, especially for those seeking higher educationin the United States. Â At the end of thecourse, students are granted the equivalency of an American high schooldiploma. Â Our American Diploma course iscurrently certified by Cognia (formerly AdvancEd).

Yes, Al Faris International School is a certified SATtesting center; however, students must register for the exam through theCollege Board website.
FIS does not currently offer ACT or AP courses, norare we an AP or ACT testing center. Â Ourstudents who require ACT/AP courses should complete them individually online orthrough a local center.

Yes, we maintain a waitlist for certain grade levels if available spots are filled. If a spot becomes available, we contact families on the waitlist based on the application date and priority criteria.
